Worship Philosophy

Me-oriented worship is the result of a culturally driven
worship. When worship is saturated in the culture and not in the story
of God, worship becomes focused on the self.  It becomes
narcissistic.....Much of our worship has shifted from a focus on God
and God's story to a focus on me and my story.

Our desire is that everyone who joins one of our Sunday worship services encounters the presence of the living God.  We believe that worship is not about musical style.  In fact, worship is about living our lives sacrificially for God (Romans 12:1-2).  When we come together corporately for worship, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave and the sending of His Holy Spirit to dwell among us.

Our corporate worship includes fellowship, preaching, scripture, prayer, sacred acts (such as communion and baptism), and music that exalts God and points us to him (Acts 2:42).  We believe that since our church family is a blending of many kinds of people, our music should also be a blending of musical styles.  We believe in the importance of preserving our heritage of traditional hymns and gospel songs, while at the same time embracing the “new song” (Psalm 96:1, 149:1) that God is inspiring in the hearts of today’s Christian songwriters.
